Universal Music wins landmark infringement case against the parallel importation of CDs and DVDs

Durand Abogados successfully represented Universal Music in a landmark infringement case against the parallel importation of CDs and DVDs. The infringing parties included some of the most important distributors and retailers of music in Peru. The action was the first to challenge retailers over the unauthorized distribution of music in Peru and universal music was the first major record company to successfully act against parallel imports. As a result, the import of CDs that are only licensed for distribution in other countries cannot be re-sold in Peru.
